It seems like something a proud father should do. I realize that I'll need the following:
A) a cliff
B) a kingdom
C) a monkey
Despite my earnest intentions and sincere interest, the whole thing starts to fall apart when I think about logistics. Plus, Spud's neck still doesn't support his head, so when the monkey holds him up, his head will just bob around randomly and it won't be the least bit majestic.

Well, if it's majesty that you want, forget about the monkey. Also, you don't need a cliff; you'd probably get thrown in jail for reckless endangerment.
ReplyDeleteAnd kingdoms are too much work; as soon as you get one, you have to publish a Domesday Book so you know what all you own and how to squeeze money out of your subjects. What thanks do you get? They make mojos and mutter curses; they urinate on your effigies (no one wants their effigies stained with someone else's urine, trust me); they rant and complain and want holidays and paid leave and sick days. Forgetaboutit!
Get the kid a nice beanie with a propellor. Think of the money you'll save; might as well start him off right, no splurging on the eyewash.
Fame is too fleeting; you could do the monkey/kingdom/cliff bit, and a week later, some other new father has an orangutan on a bicycle waving his kid around overhead while he crosses a high-wire.
Besides that, what about Kunta Kintay (sp?) in "ROOTS". All he had was some moonlight and a clear sky. It's all in the attitude and the delivery.
